Women’s Aid in Antrim, Ballymena, Carrickfergus, Larne & Newtownabbey (ABCLN) have released their second short film exploring the impact of domestic abuse on women.
Entitled My Story, the documentary-style film is a follow-up to last year’s Don’t Silence the Violence, which was made with the Ulster Orchestra. My Story features the personal stories of women who have suffered domestic abuse. It provides a profound insight into the devastating effects of domestic abuse and abuse on those who experience it.
Victims of domestic abuse are isolated through their experiences of violence. This isolation and fear are tools that perpetrators use to keep women trapped in violent, abusive relationships.
The women who informed the making of these films understood this very well and are reaching out to other women to offer support and tell them they are not alone. Their message is Don’t Silence the Violence – Speak Up, Step Out, We are here to listen and help.
