As part of the 16 days of Action, some of the women in refuge wrote about their experiences. This is one of their poems:
Living For The Moment
Well I said to myself enough is enough; you scarred my face for so long I can’t take it no more, so I got up and walked out the door.
I didn’t even know where I was going. I didn’t care. A good friend told me I could come stay with her.
So I left everything behind and came to Women’s Aid and there’s no more pain.
I can see light at the end of the tunnel, they’re great. I am so lucky I didn’t end up in a grave. So I say thanks so much Women’s Aid.
