Women’s Aid and our colleagues at the 24 Hour Domestic & Sexual Violence Helpline were at Belfast Pride on Saturday, to raise awareness about abuse and stand in solidarity with our LGBTQ+ sisters and brothers and others.
We shared a stall with the lovely folks from Victim Support NI, and spent the day telling members of the public about our services. Women’s Aid supports women (including trans women) and their children affected by domestic abuse. The 24 Hour Domestic & Sexual Violence Helpline is open to all women and men affected by domestic or sexual violence, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. Because domestic abuse can happen to (and can be perpetrated by) anyone.
It wasn’t all work and no play, as we also managed to spend part of our day at Belfast Pride rainbow-painting faces, making friends with some adorable doggies, and marching in the parade.
