In the wake of today’s news, our priority as organisations is to continue working with the government under its new leadership to ensure survivors of domestic abuse are unaffected by Brexit.
As made clear by Polly Neate, the Chief Executive of Women’s Aid Federation England (in the Telegraph blog here) being a member of the European Union was advantageous to women and children escaping domestic abuse.
We need a clear commitment from the Government now, that the safety and security of survivors – some of the most vulnerable people within our society – will be a continued priority during Brexit.
