Women’s Aid is horrified to hear of the serious sexual assault which is alleged to have taken place on University Street in the early hours of Tuesday 7th March. Our thoughts are with the victim of this horrific attack.
The University Street and wider Holylands area has been home to Women’s Aid Federation Northern Ireland for many years. We continue to work with women and men affected by domestic and sexual violence by running the 24 Hour Domestic & Sexual Violence Helpline, through refuge and support services for women and children across Northern Ireland, and by working in partnership with other organisations that support victims of sexual assault such as NEXUS and The Rowan.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact officer on 101 quoting reference number 19 07/03/17. Information can also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
If you have been affected by this story, or by any sexual assault or abuse now or in the past, the 24 Hour Domestic & Sexual Violence Helpline is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to offer support, advice and a listening ear.
