On Saturday 3rd August, women from all over Northern Ireland are invited to commemorate the Suffragette movement by donning your walking shoes and making your way to Ormeau Park for this family-friendly event.
The Walk for Women day marks the centenary of the famous walk in 1913, when 50,000 women from all over Britain walked to London and converged in Hyde Park to call for votes for women.
We will be joining our sisters in Ormeau Park on 3rd August for the walk, which accommodates all levels of fitness and ability, to remember the women who fought to give us a voice. The day kicks off at 1.30pm at the Bandstand in Ormeau Park, and there will be entertainment, face painting, children’s activities and a marquee (just in case the weather reverts back to its usual rainy self by then).
